DYNAMIC JOURNAL |
Common to all journal environments is community. Students in the Dynamic Journal (DJ) can view their classmates' pictures or custom artwork or go right to their journal (Picture A). Once they are in the dynamic classroom, they can write in their personal journal (left side), and view and read their classmates' journals (right side). This allows for various pedagogies in which students read each others' journals (Picture B). The Dynamic Zones (center column) offer a wide range of teaching possibilities. Teachers can create as many Dynamic Zones as they need, can customize each one by name, and by inserting a visual, such as the jacket cover of a novel under discussion. Teachers use Dynamic Zones for writing workshops, collaborative groups projects, focused and whole class discussion areas. The Dynamic Zones have proven to be flexible to many pedagogies (Pictures B and C).
