 The new choices that computer technology might afford students in a composition class remain to be articulated. I often have students call absent students on their cell phone to find out whether or not they are coming to class. This is a change, but is it a benefit for students - from their perspective? Maybe we are just making it clear that we want them around? Maybe it could feel like big brother watching.
